I love my grandmothers. They are near and dear to my heart and they have taught a lot about life.
Princess Vada angel day was yesterday Sept, 14th 2007. She taught me a lot about kindness and loving others. She also taught me about living life to the fullness and having courage to get through obstacles. I will never forget her and the love she had for me. I miss her very much!
Vada VanDeVanter
3/24/1923 ~ 9/14/2007
Vada Williams VanDeVanter, 84, passed away Sept. 14, 2007 in
Delta.
Born March 24, 1923 in Heyburn, ID to Wilfred Henry and Mary Ardell Fullmer Williams. Vada moved from Heyburn to Salt Lake, then to Bountiful when she was a small child and grew up the third of six children. Met George Evan VanDeVanter who became the love of her life. Their romance was interrupted by World War II. Married Jan. 9, 1946 in Oakland, CA when George was on leave from the Navy, and later sealed in Manti Temple. They lived 60 years in Delta. George died Dec. 3, 2002.
Vada's main passions in life were George, her three children, her grandchildren and fishing. Arguably the best "Hearts" player in Delta, but usually let George win to keep the peace. Always the gracious hostess, had room in her home and another plate or two at the table no matter when family or guests dropped in. Vada was never without her cheery Hello and infectious smile.
Preceded in death by sisters: Dora Black and Doris Barrett; brothers: Robert and Clyde; husband: George. Survived by brother: Kay; children: Betty Lambert, Billie Kay, and
Michael Dell. 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Services: Saturday Sept. 22, 11 a.m. at Delta 4th Ward, 197 S. 300 W. Friends call Friday evening at Nickle Mortuary, 7-8 p.m., and Saturday morning at church, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial Delta Cemetery.
